Hello Friends & Welcome
In this blog I shall be sharing with you all,one of my favourite Bengali dish.The dish is "Sorshe Ilish" (Ilish known as hilsa fish).
Hilsa is known to be the Queen of the fish.It is found in the monsoon season. It is very tasty. Preparation of Sorshe Hilsa fish is very easy. I shall be describing it in my following lines.

Cooking Time : 15 minutes
Cuisine             : Bengali,Indian

Key Ingrediants
  • Hilsa Fish - 500gms
  • Green Chilli - 4pcs - sliced & 2 pcs for grinding
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin Powder  - half tablespoon
  • Mustard Oil   - 4 tablespoon
  • Salt    -  1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - One-fourth tablespoon
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Black Mustard - 30gms
  • White Mustard - 20gms

 Instructions :
  • Slice the hilsa fish in equal sizes.
  • Wash gently in cold water
  • Wash the mustard seeds and green chillies thoroughly in cold water
  • Grind the white and the black mustard seeds along with 2 pcs of chillies and make a paste and keep in a container
  • Take a plate and keep the hilsa fish and thereafter add 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder, half tablespoon of cumin powder,1 tablespoon of salt and one-fourth tablespoon of sugar and the mustard paste with the hilsa fish and mix it properly and keep for minimum 10 minutes.
  • Take the frying pan and hit with mustard oil in medium flame and thereby fry the hilsa fish with the mixture added to it.
  • After it got fried add 2 cups of water and place 4 pcs of green chillies to it and thereafter place the lid of the frying pan for 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes add 1 tablespoon of mustard oil, mix it and keep it for 2 minutes.
The dish is now ready to serve and you can have this with rice.
I guess that most of you will definitely try to dine this popular dish at least once.
